ABOUT THE AREA

Cocentaina is a locality and municipality in the comarca of Comtat, in the province of Alicante, Spain. The village is located between the mountainous Serra de Mariola national park and the Serpis river. Cocentaina is ideally situated for both road and mountain biking. Cocentaina is located between mountains. For that reason, there are great options of hiking routes and towns which are considered tourist attractions and can be visited. Cocentaina is close to Benidorm (1 hour by car), and also it has many activities during the year such as its โ€œMoros y Cristianosโ€ celebration or โ€œLa Feria de todos los Santosโ€ which is the oldest market in Spain. It is held in early November.

While in Cocentaina, be sure not to miss any of its important monuments that still reflect the townโ€™s colorful history. Some of its popular places of interest include the Palace of the Counts of Cocentaina, the Catholic church of Lโ€™Assumpcio and the Cocentaina Castle. Cocentaina is a quiet area. However, it has all the services: hospitals, shopping centers, entertainment areas, and it is also close to large cities such as Alicante or Valencia.

Benitachell is a tranquil and picturesque village, originally an Arab outpost, with a stunning coastline nearby, which is formed by a succession of cliffs of more than a 100m high that descend vertically into the sea.

Altea is without doubt one of the most charming towns to be found on Spainโ€™s โ€˜White Coastโ€™, located in the region of Alicante on the Costa Blanca. The town is just 11 kilometres north of Benidorm, yet the two resorts are worlds apart. Altea is similar to other Costa Blanca towns in that it has a new and an old neighbourhood. The old section is perched on top of a hill from where you will find really spectacular views.
