The rest of the land (at least 2, maybe 3 smaller platforms) could be used to grow fruit, There is a balustrade with lights running along the length of the plot, large gates at the entrance, and a fence around the rest of the plot. The house has an alarm system linked to a security company.
The pool is freeform shape, measuring approximately 9 x 4 metres, and deep enough to swim the length, from approx. 3ft โ 6ft deep. There are steps to enter, leading to a shallow area ideal for children or just relaxing in the water. The pool has 2 lights.
This house offers flexible accommodation โ either 5 bedroom, or 4 bedroom with 2 living rooms, or a 3 bed (with all the bedrooms upstairs), 2 living rooms and an office with its own ensuite and access to the kitchen. There are 4 sets of French Windows downstairs leading onto the terrace, part covered, with views down to the coast. All bedrooms are double size and spacious, with built in storage to all bedrooms upstairs and the downstairs en-suite room.
The main living area is L-shaped, currently with the dining area at the back, and a large log burner and tv area at the front. There is space beside the stairs for a desk, with electrical sockets. The kitchen is a large L-shaped room, with enough space to fit a table. The washing machine is currently plumbed into the kitchen, but could be moved to the downstairs ensuite to accommodate a dishwasher . There is a 5 ring electric glass hob and oven, and plenty of storage including a large pull out larder.

Master bedroom upstairs offers ensuite, dressing area and Juliet balcony with views down to the coast. Two further twin/double bedrooms upstairs. Ensuite twin/double bedroom downstairs.
There is airconditioning in the main living room and the master bedroom upstairs. Both twin bedrooms upstairs have ceiling fans.
There is a tree in the garden that gives shade in the morning, an alcove in a corner of the house that gives shade later in the afternoon, and a covered verandah. Shade available all day is a huge benefit that houses built higher up in the hills do not have.
The water comes from a deposit and although reliant on the water table, we have never had a shortage. Water tankers operate in the area, to fill the pool after it had been left empty. The plumbing is a cesspit system, a soakaway. There is plenty of parking at the house, and access is just off the main road via a concrete track so there is no need for a 4 x 4.
Being up in the hills means we often get a very welcoming breeze which not only dries washing very quickly but is a big relief from the heat in this part of the world. Also being in the hills, we get to see the fireworks and airshows that Torre del Mar puts on for Fiestas. From time to time we see birds of prey hovering over the valley.
ABOUT THE AREA
Arenas is a municipality in the province of Mรกlaga located in the autonomous community of Andalusia in southern Spain. It is situated in the comarca of Axarquรญa. By way of road it is located 12 kilometers from Vรฉlez-Mรกlaga, 50 km from Mรกlaga and 577 km from Madrid.
Malaga airport is just over half an hour from the house, and the motorway is located at Torre del Mar. There is a hospital in Torre del Mar that is easy access without having to drive through the town. There is a golf course at Caletta, which is our side of Torre del Mar as we reach the coast. There are several supermarkets with easy access including an Aldi and the Ingenio shopping centre. There is a Water Park between Velez-Malaga and Torre del Mar.
Places to visit:
This part of the world has some wonderful cities to explore โ Malaga, Granada, Seville, Cordoba and of course the area to the west of Malaga โ torremolinos, fuengirola, Marbella (Marbella is about 1.5 hours drive from the house). Nerja with the famous caves is just along the coast, and further afield are the theme parks for the Spagetti Western film industry. The town and viaduct of Ronda are not far away and Gibraltar is also within driving distance although that would take up to 3 hours we estimate.
Although there are many nationalities living in this area, it still retains the Spanish feel that other parts of the coast seem to have lost.
