Metaxata is set in the heart of the beautiful Livathos municipality and is well known for its links with the history of Kefalonia. Artifacts dating from the Mycenaean era which were discovered in the 1930’s can be found the in Archaeological Museum in Argostoli and Lord Byron stayed in Metaxata for several months. It was from here that he wrote his epic poem, Don Juan.
