São Roque is considered a resort, with almost 70,000 inhabitants, 55 km from the center of Sao Paulo . It has all the infrastructure and access roads – Castelo Branco and Raposo Tavares .

The ecological reserve known locally as ” Mata da Câmara ” is worth a visit , a municipal park where you can admire the natural vegetation of the Atlantic, with its typical plants : orchids , bromeliads , etc. . The area is part of the ” green belt of the Atlantic” , recognized as a world natural heritage site by UNESCO.

San Roque is one of the 29 provinces considered as tourist destinations by the State of São Paulo , satisfying specific requirements set by state law . This means that these municipalities have a larger budget from the state for the promotion of regional tourism. In addition , the municipality acquires the right to add its name next to the title of Tourist Resort.

It is interesting to note that the city, while being situated between the Tropic of Cancer and Capricorn, has a ” ski resort ” . It is an artificial track – Plastic – located in a private park .
