ABOUT THE AREA
Bulusan, officially the Municipality of Bulusan, is a 4th class municipality in the province of Sorsogon, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 23,932 people. Bulusan Volcano stands 1,565 meters above sea level with a base area of approximately 400 kilometers. There are three (3) lakes within Bulusan Volcano, namely – Bulusan Lake which lies at the foot of the volcano, Lake Aguingay which is halfway to the volcano and the Blackbirds’ Lake, which is near the summit of Bulusan Volcano.
Given the above-cited areas, Bulusan is an ideal place for mountaineering, water sports adventure and ecological trekking considering that environmental and biodiversity awareness is common to both local and foreign tourists. With six (6) bounding barangays to BVNP, the municipality is ingress and egress points to this protected area. The activities inside the lake is being managed by a civil society organization called AGAP Bulusan, trained guides and responders are ready to serve our guests with the different activities offered in the area like trekking along the lake, braving the 100 meters canopy walk, kayaking, rowing and one can experience the relaxing massage inside the floating spa with trained and licensed massage therapists.
Balay Buhay sa Uma Bee Farm is a secluded place that is perfect for escaping the hustle and bustle of city life and to experience a barrio life. It is a farm sanctuary nestled on the slopes of Mount Bulusan in San Roque, Bulusan, Sorsogon. The farm is home to ligwan and pukyutan bees that produces honey.
