This year, 11,970 expats from around the world participated in a survey to determine which cities were the best for international residents to live in. The results placed Valencia, Spain, ahead of other global cities such as Dubai and Mexico City. The city polled 171 different peoples from 181 different countries.
Quality of life, personal economics, digital lifestyle, language, expat basics, housing, working overseas, and adjusting to the new environment were all hot topics. Expats ranked 56 facets of city life on a scale of one to seven to determine which cities were best and worst overall. Aspects including making friends, the cost of living, and access to healthcare, as well as more abstract ones like money and loss, were covered. Following the survey, these factors were organised into five distinct classes.
After that, I asked, “Overall, how satisfied are you with your life in your host country?”
Instead of considering external data, the study relies on the perspectives of international residents of the chosen city. Concerning issues of personal security, for instance, neither foreign visitors nor natives are mentioned in the poll. At least 50 people must take the survey for it to be valid in larger places like Valencia, Dubai, or Mexico City.
1. Valencia, Spain.
The city of Valencia is Spain’s third-largest, after Madrid and Barcelona, and it contains 19 districts with a total of 88 neighbourhoods. Expats in Valencia had a pessimistic outlook on both the employment market and their professional futures, placing the city in the bottom half of the list for both measures. 3: Mexico City, for Foreigners
When it comes to relocating, this city comes out on top. The local culture and hospitality, the ease of making new friends, and other such factors were considered. When it comes to working overseas, however, the city ranks only 24th. In spite of this, expats in Mexico City report a high level of financial happiness because their money goes further in the city due to the low cost of living. Another Spanish city that is popular with expats is Madrid, which ranks seventh for how easy it is to settle there. Unfortunately, Madrid only ranked #38 for working abroad, #10 for personal finances, and #20 for expat needs like housing and language.
